This appeal procedure is new so how much impact it will have will be determined by the answers to our appeal letters. They know there are problems out there but there is no single solution. Hopefully this appeal process will satisfy some of the problems. Other changes are: out of work dues will increase from the present $.50 to $2.00, $1.00 of which will stay in the Lodge. December 11, 1992 , the question of the Lodge dues structure was brought up on the floor. Questions were raised by the members of Prime Manufacturing as to why their dues are more than twice their weighted average of their shop. The method of how our dues structure is obtained was explained both the minimum dues structure and the regular dues structure. It was also explained that at the last Grand Lodge Convention relief to the low paying shops was addressed. An appeal to the International President can be made on behalf of each shop requesting relief. This will be done as soon as requests from shop come into the Lodge. It was also explained that the International recognizes the problems of our dues structure throughout the organization but the problem is too complex to resolve uniformly. They felt the appeal process would be a more sound method of resolving some of the dues structure problems.
